I just got back from the 1600 mi trip to pick up a 71 Grabber in Idaho. I got it off ebay and was real worried about rust. Well it has rust, but it is almost all surface rust. The attached pictures show the car and a rust spot that looks bad, but actually may look worse than it really is. I sanded down the spots like the one in the picture and there is solid metal underneath. The seller said that the car sat for a real long time and it just has surface rust. The frame and body parts are good and do appear to have surface rust and not bad rust, just quite a bit of it on the surface. After sanding some parts down today I'm feeling pretty good about the purchase.

The interior is really cool and pretty nice. It has all the original parts and I like the red and black color. The engine runs strong too. I can't wait to work on it and make it a real nice resto-mod Grabber. I plan on painting it red with black stripes. I want it to look almost identical to my uncle's 71 Comet GT that he bought brand new and has kept it in prestine condition, he still has the window sticker and everything. They would look pretty cool side by side, 71 Maverick Grabber and 71 Comet GT, red with red and black interior, 302 & 3 speed.

I have so much work to do I don't know where to start. I'll be askin' lots o' questions.
