For several years there has been a downtown car show and "50's Bash" which had been bringing in over 200 cars. This year the clash of fairs and razorback football, kind of put the count real low, around 70. I have put one or all three of the mav's in each year and have been the only ones attending. This year I washed off the 73 four door and drove her down to the show. As usual, was the only mav there, but was fun to talk to the people that "Used to have one of these, damn good car" Anyway's the old 250 is starting to rattle a bit on start up(87000mi) so am debateing on a overhaul or building a little 289 screamer and make a sleeper out of the old girl. She's straight and clean inside and out but am bored with the everyday driver thing with it. No external mods, just engine, trans and rear gears. Got to find some stock size sticky tires though. Just thinkin outlloud, don't ya know.
You can take the boy out of the hot rod, but you can't the hot rod out of the boy...just to paraphrase and old cliche'. BTW, I've been to Conway, Morrilton (?), and Petit Jean (?) Mountain. Wife and in-laws are from AR. In-laws live down around Dumas and McGehee.
....trade ya the 250 out of the '73 for the 302 in the '74 then the '74 could be a turbocharged 250" six sleeper.
Got some pic's but it is race weekend so it will be next week before I can post. Takes me a couple days to recover from the adrenalen rush and also the losers party at the fence, near the finish line. I get to attend it quite often, don't you know. Hey Hawko, never been to Dumas area but Morrilton is just 18mi west and on the way to the track. Petit Jean mountain(named after a French stowaway and buried on top of it) is the site of a very large swap meet and show eack spring and fall. Has a muesurm of automobiles also. If you go down the west side of the mountain on 154 for 12mi, it will intersect with 7(road to Hot Springs), just 1mi west of there is our track.
