question... on a I6 when the tranny is removed there is one freeze plug on the left bottom... but there is another kinda in the middle of the motor. is that a freeze plug or a cap for the cam shaft on the other side. again you can only see it when the trannys removed. reason why i'm asking is one is kinda rusted and if it is a freeze plug i'm gonna replace it... if not i'm probably gonna leave it. and its just in a weird place for a freeze plug IMO.. but who knows.. and then again what the hell do i know anyone one know what the hell it is... i'm all new to this I6 stuff! i'd show you all a pic of it but i'm at my buddies shop with it up on the hoist and don't have a digtal camera.
Not sure on the I6 but in most cases the coolant core plugs (1 3/4) are smaller than the camshaft plug is larger (over 2")
For a couple of bucks it is definitely worth replacing while that transmission is out. Glad things worked out. Allan
