As I was removing the calipers and little pieces I have left before my '77 goes to the body shop, I realized just how much bondo is on my 1/4's. From the edge nearest the wheel back, the entire bottom is rotted out up about 8 inches. I put an ad in the wanted area about some 1/4 patch panels, I hope somebody can help me out. Curse you road salt, curse you. Just wanted to share the joy.

I have learned that a classic vehicle has to be given a thorough going over prior to starting your project. When you start doing the work in piece meal and look back at the path you have taken and the receipts, blood, sweat and tears you have collected ... many times you realize maybe you should have just junked it and got one in better condition. I have been there and done that and lost a hefty sum of money ... but live and learn and hindsight is 20/20 ...

I neither have the funding, skills or tools required to fix a rust bucket. To all you guys looking for a Maverick to restore: Take your time, have patience and be willing to say no to a questionable car. There are lots of rust free cars out there ... just not for sale at the moment. Your future gem maybe sitting in a garage somewhere just waiting for the owner to give it up ... Be ready to fly out of town at a days notice with a $500 plane ticket because if you can start your project with a rust free car ... that $500 ticket is money well spent!

for my area of the nation, this is in pretty good shape. I have a clean cowl, spotless rear floors, a hand sized area in my passenger side floor that must be cut out, and the torque box under it repaired on one side, the insides of the rear rockers need patching, and then these quarters. *shrugs* it's a long list but I'm willing to do it I guess.
