    Where does the wire from the (I) terminal on the voltage regulator go? I have a generic wiring schematic that says it is the alternator exciter but it leads into the fuse box. What is up with that? I looked on the Mav and the wire goes into a bundle that does appear to go to the box - but exactly where does it go?

    I would think I = Ignition .... just a guess ...

    You are right.

    That wire should be a red-green wire leading into the fuse panel.

    I = Ignition
    S = Starter
    F = Field (Alternator coils)

    Ahh............. S should be stator, not starter

    My diagram shows it going into the fuse panel and I can see the red and green wire going into the bundle that goes into the fuse panel - but what exactly does it hook to in the fuse panel? Main accessory fuse? Split off somewhere like into the steering column harness for the IGNITION switch?

    According to my wiring diagram, it goes straight to the ignition switch for 12 volts in the run position. It goes through the connector on the back of the fuse panel but not actually through the fuse panel.

    Thanks for the direction guys. Ignition is the right answer. I took your suggestions and started looking back from Ignition on another diagram I found and it makes a long trip around from the accessory B position on the switch.

    I am building an engine test stand. I've lost a couple of cams lately and feel it has been due to not being able to get fire and fuel to the motor because of chassis problems. I'm going to start breaking in cams on the stand where I will be assured of immediate fire-up. Photos later.

    Thanks again
