Has anyone converted a late model glove box interior to a early style tray interior? I appears the tray might not just be a bolt in ... not sure so I am asking. Thanks ...
Thanks ... I'll wait for Frank to respond ... The dash is definitly different ... I can see that. I found a 72 Dash for sale with the A/C cutout I need. Just need to see if it's still for sale and find a matching package tray that includes the A/C vents as well. I assume the duct-work may be different too ... If I can collect all the necessary parts I'll attempt it one day ..
dan, yes i did the swap in both my '73 and '77. i have a package tray for an air car. the "ball" vents have been professionly reworked( by me). both my cars are non/air. if i can help with any of the parts you need let me know. the trays are a must in my junkyard finds. i get everyone i see. there are special bolts that hold the air tray onto the dash, so if you find one in a junkyard get the bolts...frank...
Frank ... did you swap your entire dash or bolt the tray to the late model dash? If you did please post some pictures of the conversion. I can trade you a non-a/c tray with no vents with a radio delete installed for your A/C tray (full or partial trade). Is it in decent shape? Thanks ..
dan, you will also need the end brackets that hold the dash and tray to the body. i will see if i can find all of the brackets round vents and bolts. i think the plastic piece under the steering wheel is the same if not i will see if i have one of them also ...frank...
Dan, here is an old pic of mine. I'm using a '77 dash in a '72 car with the '72 A/C tray. No problem with installation. Soon I'll have pics with the new console to show off!
Wow ... that looks great ... Hopefully Frank can help me out with the A/C tray and the brackets. I also happen to have one of those LDO package tray trim pieces. Did you need to use 72 style air duct hoses or did you reuse your 77 air duct hoes for the tray?
