what you all think?
m&m,
i like the look  , just not the...
DUAL DRILLED FOR WEIGHT REDUCTION AND UNIVERSAL APPLICATION. :hmmm:
i am not the one size fits all person ...frank...
MaverickGrabber 2005-01-10, 18:35 that and the price:eek:

hum good point but weld superlites and cragar drag lights also had that universal dealeo too. maybe i just got use to it.
but there is one way around it! change my car to spindel... lol j/k
but man you see the weight on those things!
i'm just looking for differant right now..
i really like theses http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/details.asp?wheelid=129&name=TrakStar%20-%20Bead%20Lock&style=480R&desc=3-piece%20/%20forged%20alloy%20center§ion=R
but best i can get on these right now is racer net. and they are still a grip.
I like both of them:thumbsup: .....I am assuming that these are for MY white 73'? :D
streetrod77 2005-01-10, 22:08 I like the mickey's better. But both look good.
Maverick Man 2005-01-10, 23:16 I like both of them:thumbsup: .....I am assuming that these are for MY white 73'? :D
huh yeah.. what size would you perfer?
littleredtoy 2005-01-10, 23:17 Derek,
Did your Boyd C sponsorship expire?
I really like the ones on your blue '73.
One thing that I have not seen at all
actually on a car is the 16/17 Cragar
S/S.
How would they look?
Seth

nah boyd deal is still good. no way i would change thoses!
but these would be for the white car... light weight good for drag racing (though the boyd i really like they just weigh to much for drag racing) anways trying to redo the car now. just got the paint today just planing ahead.
the white car was never sponsored on wheels before.. so i though i might as well try to hore it out and get some new wheels for the car to, to make it look differant. good news is mickey thompson sponsors my white car but thats just for tires. i haven't begged them yet for wheels :D
american racing said theyd give me racer net at 35% off but thats still a grip! and like i said they are hard people to get ahold of. :(
again just looking for something new and differant.
huh yeah.. what size would you perfer?
I will leave it up to you....I trust your judgement:D
Mavaholic 2005-01-11, 04:39 I think they would look better much without that ring of rivits around them. I never got that look.
Maverick Man 2005-01-11, 12:32 I think they would look better much without that ring of rivits around them. I never got that look.
its becuase its a real two peice... centers are supposed to be interchangeable er so to speak. but yeah hense the reason for the rivits and the high price!
but there are some that are fake (rivit) like the centerline autodrags and lot of import wheels as well.
littleredtoy 2005-01-11, 13:13 I really like the larger diameter Cragars-vintage look in modern size.
I dunno about weight however.
Seth
CometGT1974 2005-01-19, 15:25 Might as well give Bogart a call and see what they have to say......they've got some nice looking wheels. I"ve heard that Weld is coming out (or may have already come out) with some new style wheels.
courier11sec 2005-01-20, 15:28 My .02 is that those American Racing units are bad ass! I'd go for them if I were spending your money.
hehe
Andysutt 2005-01-22, 13:18 Im not 2 fond of either of those wheels honestly.
May look better on the car than just a picture
But of course, i can't complain, im running ford ranger front wheels on my comet.
Country Mav 2005-02-07, 15:51 My vote goes for the American Racing wheels. (Out of those 2 choices) Preston
GrabberGT 2005-02-08, 09:05 I think they would look better much without that ring of rivits around them. I never got that look.
I'm with Denis. I dont like the rivets. I say, get the AR's, grind off the rivets and weld the center in place.
tim keck 2005-02-08, 19:38 I kinda like what's on it now.But if you're gonna spend on some lightweights I like the Bogarts, they look smooth without all the rivets, contours, dips & other weird stuff.JMO
Maverick Man 2005-02-13, 22:04 Welp I broke down and got them.
Really wanted the AR’s but I couldn’t get anything better then racers net.. and I wasn’t gonna give them more then I thought they would be worth! I like the bogarts but in the past they didn’t wanna help me out so they can eat my shorts!
Mickey Thompson gave me a smoking deal and plus they gave me a contingency pay out on them if the car get any press. Which in itself would almost pay for the rims themselves. Besides the relationship I have with Mickey Thompson already with the tires and all it’s was best I thought to keep the that brand if you know what I mean.
Your probably asking what the heck were wrong with the other rims. Well you know me I want something different! You know Maverick… get it? I mean I love the drag stars but everyone and their moms got them. I’ll be mounting some drag radials or my old M&H’s on the drag stars and use them just for the street. Not that I won’t be driving these on the street :p
Besides for racing wanted something a bit lighter for the front rims. I am really happy with the front rims.. 3.5 inches wide and weight under 8 lbs.. one pieced forged and the rim was very true only took three 7gm weights! The rear wheels weight are the same but the offset is about a ½ inch deeper so I can change the tires later to 10.5s
I bet most of you are asking why don’t they match.. Well look at Prostock and in fact the last few features they have done in Car Craft along with the 2005 Hot Rod Mustang project car. http://hotrod.com/projectbuild/113_0501_first (http://hotrod.com/projectbuild/113_0501_first) they are the same deal. Guess the wheel guys say that they are the same, just a smaller version of the front ones.. ig: smaller holes or spaces. guess the weight savings is well worth more then the looks. With the new rims the removal of the actual front bumper (not the chrome cover) the fiberglass hood add on soon. I should have taken about 30 or so lbs off the front of the car.
Anyways its gonna get me some use to looking at the car like this but at least its different? Or different? :hmmm: Or just different? :coco: Or nevermind!:D
streetrod77 2005-02-14, 13:49 I like it. It looks lowered. What gauges are outside the hood? Oil & fuel pressure.

thanks... but yeah its way lowered.. i took that picture with the camera on the ground.. so when you standing it really looks low... imagine if it didn't have 26 inch tall tires on the front! funny though.. thats when the car got most of its attendtion was after i lowered it back in the 90's... funny how something so little can make a big differance. the thing is i don't think it the best set up for drag racing. i have had these 6 cyl springs in my garage forever to put the car back up but.. i i like the way it looks that low. :D
as far as guages its fuel and vac. both mech.
Dan Starnes 2005-02-14, 18:56 You made the right choice. Looks waaaaaaaay nice!

your right, lowering the car is always my first step. This step has a great response when done right. I begin to like gauges outside the car. I guess it had to grow on me.

yeah at the time the outside guages bothered me... but at the time they didn't have that inside regulator like the do know for the inside... not to menation they didn't have any electric ones at that time either. so i just mounted them outside. but i guess i got so use to it that way i mounted my other ones outside too... lol!
courier11sec 2005-02-15, 21:04 So you want to send me your old wheels?
