so i have the oppertunity to get a 4 speed big block toploader. so what i want to know is what is different besides the bell housing and the tail shaft. and will parts off a small block toploader fit on a big block? so effectivly could you take a big block toploader and make it work in a small block application. would you have to change the imput shaft? any help on this would be great.

Depends on what you mean by big block. Got a number for the trans? Just because it was bolted behind a FE motor dosent necessarily mean its any different than one behind the 302. Also depends on what car it was installed in.
