I want to put on my rebuilt driver's side remote sport mirror, however, my car is a non-remote mirror car. My '77 was a remote mirror car and I thought I would just take careful measurements from that door panel and use a dremel to painstakingly cut out the correct hole. Has anyone else ever done this? Tips, tricks?

Easy conversion ... the hole will already be in the outer doors skin ... use one of those circular cutout bits for your drill for the inner door .. should take a total of five minutes ...

I'll be doing the same thing on my 74 once I'm done with the Grabber ..

I thought I remembered the hole being a slightly odd shape, but it's been so long since I've seen my '77 doors (they're in storage). I could swear there is a notch in it somewhere to keep the "joystick" from spinning. Thanks much Dan!

The hole is round with an additional notch on the side. I notch is probably to enable you to install the backing plate without removing the door panel. If you take your door panel off, which you will more than likely have to do anyway a round hole should work fine since you can install the backing plate through the other holes behind the door panel... that is my plan anyways ..
