Just wondering if any one on this Forum has seen or knows what ever happened to a car I sold to a middle aged couple back in 1991/92 in the north Houston area. It was originally a California car and I was the 3rd owner, my best friend was the 2nd. 1972 Mercury Comet GT, Grabber Green/ faded on the roof with Chrome waggon wheels/Road hugger GT radials. The body had a noticeable dent on the left rear quarter panel with 2 holes drilled in the middle of it. Black bucket interor, It had a 4 speed and the 302 motor had 66 289 heads, headers, weiand hi rise intake, holley carb, Mallory unilite and Shellby COBRA valve covers. The rear had 3.55 gears.

I sure hated to sell the car but at the time I was a poor college student and the car needed lots of work $$$$ to stay road worthy.

If you still have the VIN, the cops can run it to see if it is still registered to someone or if it went to a registered salvage yard, they have to record VIN's.

    Good luck, and :Welcome:

If you financed the car or used the car as collateral in some other loan, your bank will have the records including the VIN number.

Good luck on your search! :tiphat:

    Gonna try my insurance company

Thanks for the info, Im also gonna try my insurance company, since I had the car insured then with the same company I have now. But back then the car was insured under my mothers policy. I still dont think there should be a problem. (y)

You might ask the same question at http://dfwstangs.net/. I seem to remember a guy on that board having a similar setup a year or so ago.

    Good luck.

    Chrome wagon wheels....

    ...rang a bell with me.

I don't remember if it was E-bay or traderonline that I found this pic.
I know nothing more about it, just that it was for sale.

I remember that picture from ebay. About 2 years ago or so. Wasn't there a story that went with it that the guy selling it bought it from a police auction?

    Dayum you're good!

I lost a 12 point 1-13/16" 1/2" drive deep-well impact socket about 2-1/2 years ago. Any ideas?

Looks like a very close match, but no cigar

Man....looking at that car gave me a chill down my spine. Looks alot like my old one but the color and dent dont match. The dent on my old Comet was just in front of the wheel opening and the color was more metallic. If I remember right it was called Competition Green.

Thank you all for your leads.:tiphat:

    More metallic?

This one belongs to Ronald Hopkins. He has painted it black now.
I don't know the color code or correct color name.

    Thats the right color

Thats right the color. My car also had chrome traction bars along with the Wagon wheels, dark limo tint, a hole cut out under the hood. Was running a CompCam 280 Magnum grind and roller tip rockers.

Seth: That's not the black car. It is the tan 2door that is now black with all GT parts. I guess you would call it a GT clone.
