:bananaman Inline6 and I got the 7 1/2" rear end out of the Mav today and installed the 8" with the Auburn mini spool. Not too challenging, but a chore none the less !! Shock towers are cut, engine compartment painted !! Picking up the 351w next Saturday:bananaman !! Between now and Saturday I'll cut the Cougar tail lights in and install new shocks !!
Does anyone know if the shoes and internals from a front drum will go into same size rear drum ??
See you next weekend MaverickGrabber !

Great progress on your car!

I'll answer your brake question generically, not specific to the Maverick line.
Front brake shoes are usually wider than the rears, that is how you get a greater stopping power out of a front brake than the rear on a 4 drum brake car. Also, front brake shoes will not have the e-brake components with them. Often, wheel cylinders will be a different size too. That also contributes to a greater stopping power in the fronts.

Best to just get the correct rear brake parts then to try and make front stuff work in the rear.

I Like it when a plan comes together. Is the 351 ready to drop in & go?

:tiphat: Thanks for the info on the brakes, better to do the job right than to rig it !! I think the 351 has been sitting a short while but won't take much to get running.
I will post better pics as soon as I figure out how to resize them my choices are either too big or too small.
