I just got my loan refund for school, instead of putting it back in against the loan, I'm keeping this one to help finish the car up (my only form of transportation).

I mentioned a while back that I picked up a '89 roller motor, .030 over with flat tops, fully balanced, main girdle, etc.
As for a cam, I'm going to pick up the Ford B-303 roller camshaft.
I have a set of E7TE heads that will be milled slightly for guide plates and compression. I'm going to run a set of stock roller lifters and holddowns, full roller rockers, and hardened pushrods. I bought the heads after some slight port work was done on them, but I'm not sure what the springs are rated so I need to get those checked out.
Then I plan to pick up either a typhoon (performer knockoff) manifold, or an old sonicport offy if I can find it. On top of that will be a rebuilt 650 holly. For headers I'm going to get a set of uncoated Hooker 6901's. I plan on running patriot sidepipes if i can make them fit with the longtubes(I know, I know, but I like the look).
I'm also going to pick up a high torque mini starter and wire that up, I will probably need a new alternator as well.

As for the oil system, I want to run a standalone oil cooler, i have a stock pump with a ARP shaft installed on the block. I am considering one of the 9qt front sump pan/windage tray kits from summit, if anyone has any advice there let me know.

My other dilemma is deciding if i want to run serpentine or v-belt. My buddies are pushing me serpentine but I'm not sure if that's the way to go, again, any advice would be appreciated.

That's the gist of it, feel free to comment.

First off, congrats on your 500th post! :D

The B cam, in my experience, and with an Automatic, helped out on the lower end torque. I was also limited to the stock valve springs. I didn't really care for it - but I didn't want to change out the valve springs so I chose the B cam.

If you're going to get new springs anyway, I'd consider a more aggressive cam - alphabet or not.

I'm not sure about the fit of the pan from Summit. I (and a lot of others here) use the Milodon style and it's a close fit, but we know that it does fit. You might do a site search on the topic (if you haven't already).

    RE: Serpentine or not
I currently have a serpentine setup and am going to change to a V-belt setup. Depends on your accessories I would think. I am going with an electric motor for the water pump. I have no A/C - only a 1-wire alternator to run.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do and keep us posted, please.

IF you have plenty of ground clearance, go for it. If yours is low in the front, I'd reconsider it. The deep sump pan does protect the frame cross brace though.

High amperage alternators can cause belt squeal when using a single v-belt. The serpentine belt has a greater surface contact area thus reducing belt squeal.

<-- Cool! Now I know how to make my car will "sqeal out". ;)

(good info on the belt btw - I'll probably bring this post back up sometime)

Anyone who's been hanging off a breaker bar while trying to tighten down a V belt alternator will tell you it's a lot nicer to have a serp. set up. I think it looks better, and it's constant tension, so you don't have to worry about tightening everything back up again once the belts streatch out. The tensioner I used had little marks on it too, so you would know how much the belt was stretching and when it was time to replace it. I'll never go back to V belts if I can help it.

    I've had a few
Wish I could put serpentine belts on my 6 cylinder. My belt always sqeaks when I've got my stereo and stuff on and take off from a red light fast. I've tried everything to stop it.
