I've had a vibration up front for a while, I finally ruled out the tires and the disc brakes. Today I decided to do a test, I got on the highway (driving to school actually) and about 30 minutes later, I jumped out and felt the driver's side dust cap, nothing. Then I ran around the passenger side to try that one, I could definately feel heat. I seem to recall that if you can feel heat on a dust cap, or around the hub, that the bearing is bad or improperly greased. Your thoughts?

My thoughts? Pull it apart and look for any burned up grease or anything like that. Wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the wheel bearings if they are old.

It would be hard to tell if the heat is due to the brakes or wheel bearings. If you have drum brakes it could be a difference in the adjustment. With disc, they always run hot.

The wheel bearings are new and I use the red "racing" grease, I guess it would turn brown when burned. Would there be pits or something in the race/bearing if it's bad?

Yea, I have the same grease and it will turn brown and almost crumble when it gets over heated. If you have front drums, drive in reverse at about 10 mph and hit the brakes a few times. They will automatically adjust.
