Rear drum brakes,What can i use??

    Getting ready to put the rear brakes on the Comet,it has a 9",with no backing plates or anything.Is there another Ford product i can rob a brake assembly off?I don't know of any wreckers that has any Mav's,Comets granadas,or the like in my area,will a Ranger or Aerostar work? Thanks Derek.

    if its a small bearing 9" then the 8" stuff should swap onto it.

    Cool thanks i'll have to double check i'm pretty sure it is the small bearing. Derek.

    Missing my old '70 Maverick
    I'm assuming you do not know the origin of the 9" (if it's not an aftermarket rear) ??

    You 'might' could narrow it down by measuring it's width (and looking for other identifying marks).

    I found out my 9" rear was out of a 1971 Econoline Van. :huh:

    (..of course I had the luxury of knowing the diameter of the brakes to use as reference along with the overall length of the rear).

    I was told by the guy i bought the car from that it was from a 68 cougar if that helps at all.Derek
