Could someone tell me the differences between the following trannys compared to a C4 ? Size and modifications to make them work in our cars. AOD - AODE - T5 Do they fit ? Do they require different mounts or bellhousings ? Are there mods needed to the driveshaft ? If either of these were available in a parts car, would they bolt up to a 351w block ? What other parts should be taken ? I'm only familiar with C6,C4, and Torqueflites.
    Thanks, Darrel

    I've had a few
I think a 351w would tear all of those to pieces.

Any tranny that will fit a 302 will fit a 351c/w.
Just as with a 302, you must match the flywheel or flexplate with the balance of the crank.
Now, putting in a Mav is another question.
I know the T5 fits fine.
Also, the AOD has been installed by a couple folks here.
Both need mods to go in, but nothing terribly hard or destructive.

I agree though, that a 351 would play hell on the models you listed.
A really well built C4 or a Stang toploader would be your best bet for durability.

I wasn't really looking to change my C4 to one of those trannys. I was just curious wether they all bolted up to the 302/351w. I didn't know if they were the same length, if they were metric or if you used them would you have to have a driveshaft made, use a different type speedo ?? Just basically educating myself on the various Ford offerings.

If you get all the parts from the engine plate/bellhousing and back... if it came off a 302, 351w, or 351c...
It will all bolt up to the other 2 from the list.
Depending on the year model of the 302, it might not have the right balance on the flexplate/flywheel to swap to a 351, even though it will bolt up fine.
