This is on the passenger side of the radiator mount, on the very top, near where the fender mounts to the frame. It has a "Y" cut into it. What does it mean, and why is it there? (please excuse the POR-15 all over it, I am using it on all surfaces in that area at this time).
Looks like what is called a body buck tag. It is only on the Canadain built cars. It has all kinds of information on it.
Mine only has "Y" cut into it...I don't consider that "all kinds of information". What does the "Y" stand for. Either way, it is coming off, and heading toward the garbage can, since it doesn't make it go faster
i think the tag they are thinking about is usually on the other side of the radiator. the y is probably for YELLOW
My '74 Grabber has that tag and it was built at the Wayne, Michigan plant. You can see it hanging down just above the drivers side bumper absorber in this pic.
Yea, all kinds of stuff. I've never paid much attention to it, didn't even know it was there until after I wrecked the car and took it apart. I think it may have a couple of letters stamped out of it like Scoop's to. I'll take a look at it and get a better pic when I go up there this weekend.
