Ok for you guys with stick cars, How far back is the shifter hole in the trans tunnel? I've got a 4speed (suposidly came out of a truck) that looks like the shifter location is close to where it should be, but since I've got the shell gutted I cant judge where it will set with the dash/ seats.
    Any info is appreciated.

Since your tranny didn't come from a Mav, you will do best by putting the tranny in and punching a mark where the shifter will come up.
That is what I did when using a Mustang tranny.
Those shifters mount pretty far back on the tail. If you have a truck tranny, it will probably be closer to the dash.
I put a punch mark where the shifter body was, with the shifter arm unbolted.
Then from the top, I drilled 4 holes around it... IIRC they were about 4" apart in a square. Then I cut the straight cuts between each hole to make a rounded corner square.
I have to say that the Mustang shaft worked perfectly for my Mav, bench seat and all.
I think it would be close to the dash with a Falcon or other model 4 speed with the shifter further up the tranny. Don't know for sure though, never used any but a Stang tranny in a Maverick.

I put in a toploader out of a Fairlane, 67 I believe (according to the tranny numbers). I did the same thing, marked underneath with a punch and cut out the hole for the shifter. It came with a hurst shifter, and with my bench seat all the way forward it works.

Thats probably what I'll have to do with it, but at the moment the parts for the interior are scattered all over the place. I know its shifter is closer to the dash than the mustang (kept it outa my stang) but it looks (with a tape and an eye-ball) that it comes out in the center of the flat of the hump. I'll have to set the dash back in and check when the welding and grinding stops.
