Just got my Marti auto report in for my 71 Comet. Really interesting that only 1909 were made with this paint code, and only 724 came with this paint and bucket seats. Seems my car has seen some changes for the years. Anyhow it listed some options and I was wondering what they meant

    NOX emission system
    Heavy duty suspension
    GT appearance group

What does the heavy duty suspension include? What Does NOX mean? Im assuming the GT appearance group means its the GT package

    Thanks Ben

NOX - Came from the factory with Nitrous Oxide :yikes:

Just kidding...I'm really not sure about that one but am very curious. Let us know when you find out.

NOx is Nitrous of Oxide - It's an exhaust emission that is the result of lean burn and hot combustion. I would think this describes your catalytic converter and AIR pump.

Don't know why a '71 would have that though. Very interesting. It may also be EGR, because that cools the combustion event and as a result lowers NOx.

CATS and EGR are the only things I know of the lower NOx emissions.

Might be a California car. They had emission equipment before all the rest.

My 71 Grabber had the NOX Emission System listed as well .... I have no idea what it is ....

HD suspension was typically a beefier front sway bar and 4-leaf rear springs ... I would guess HD shocks as well ...

NOx, or Oxides of Nitrogen.... normal in the combustion process, when oxygen and nitrogen combine, controlled by lowering combustion temperatures by use of EGR (exhaust gas recirculation).

AIR injection (air pump stuff), controls carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons by forcing fresh air into the exhaust system to help complete the combustion process after it leaves the cylinders.

just wanted to help add some light.

Yours is even more rare than mine. Mine was 764 with my paint & trim which was blue on blue. What colors were yours?

That's absolutely correct. Has nothing to do with "nitrous"...
