Started the day out working on the big truck, wired up some led lights I put in my bugshield, fixed a busted headlight bucket that the bodyshop screwed over last fall. Ever seen anybody try to repair a crack in fiberglass with BONDO? Believe me, it don't work. Broke again, same place. I fitted a aluminum brace, pop riveted it in place, will go back and 'glass it in later. It's hid behind the headlight bezel, so nothing shows. Then ole big boy got a much needed bath. After a sandwich, a quick check of the board, and a little rest, on to the fun stuff! Cleaned off the concrete pad behind the house, and son and I pushed the Mav in place! Now it's in reach of the electricity and air hoses. Took off the trunk lid, straighted the lip nearest the backglass which had gotten pushed down enough to rub the window trim. Reinstalled the lid, aligned it. Looking better. Got in to ascess the rust in the floorpan. Determined the drivers side has to be replaced from about the front seat mount to the rear seat. Passenger side is solid. Cowl doesn't leak , don't know why only the drivers side rusted, maybe the window was left down too often? Brother-in-law came out with his newest toy-350 V8 S10. After talking with him a while, checked out his truck-nice. 350, Turbo 350, reverse valve body, trans brake, narrowed 9 inch with 4:11 mini spool, ladder bars and coilovers with HUGE M/T Sportsman tires. Too tired to do any more today, but at least I finally got to start on the Mav, even if was just a small thing I got done!
I've checked it after several HUGE rains, the floors are always dry. No leaks now, not to say that it hasn't leaked in the past....
Me and Terry looked at that car when I looked at my '72 back in November. Strangest place for a floor to rust I've seen.
