I took a little time to go junkyarding today. Hit the two largest yards in the area and found one.....as in only ONE Maverick or Comet. It was a 73 Comet 4 door, 200 6. The hood is perfect, the hood trim has one very tiny ding. No rust, good paint. Both front fenders were very nice. The 73 valance is perfect. the bumper has a minor scrape and some minor surface rust. The grill was perfect with the amber turn signal lights. The wiring on them was still supple and not cracked. The interior was tan/beige in color. Most parts there and in good shape. Rear bumper was twisted doors are good except passenger side front has a rust buble about 2' across in front lower corner. I bought the hood, grill and fenders just because I couldn't stand to see them destroyed. I will use the fenders and fix the ones I am replacing to use as spares. The hood is probably just going into storage until I can manage to find a Comet to buy. I also found a set of '67 Cougar taillights. The lense on the drivers side is cracked and will need to be replaced but other than that, they are perfect. Even the rubber seals were in great shape. So if anyone outhere wants me to check out interior parts from a 73 4 door, send me a note with what you are looking for. I will be going back down on Tuesday to check the yards again. BTW, I am still looking for both doors for a 72 two door car. I am in SOCAL. If you know of a yard with good doors, drop me a line so I can go buy them? Please?
