Hello ! Greetings from Venezuela !

I wanted to contact you to ask a couple of questions, first of all I must say I am a proud owner of a 1973 Maverick, which I take care like a baby. (attached in image) I call him "Match 5" like speed racer's car.

I found your website, very cool and awesome to see how there are hundred of maverick owners that take good care and love the car as I do.

A friend of mine is selling me a 1977 model, and here's where my question comes in: Since I have seen in the overhaulin tv show that they use to restore these cars... I would like to restore first of all my car for personal reasons, and secondly the mav I intentd to buy from my friend, but this one I was wondering if I can sell in the US, since I have seen some Mustangs at Ebay auctioning at + $ 60,000 and more ? I was wondering if this was the case for mavericks too. I suppose a large amount of money is needed to spend in the restore process, which I am willing to go for.... do you think it is worth to do as an invest, buy a mav here and send it to the US to restore and sell ?

    Thanks for your answers !!,

    Hector

I have never seen a Maverick go for more than $13K. There was one on Ebay that supposedly went for $20K but nobody that knows anything about these cars believes it. They are just not in high demand to bring that kind of money. But hey, you can try.

    Welcome aboard!
It's like Mavaholic said, 13K is about the most one has sold for on eBay. The sad thing about it is you would probably have to spend over $20K to get it to bring that much...unless you can do all the work yourself. The prices of our cars are going up but they will never be equal to what the Mustangs do. If you're going to restore the car, do it for a keeper...not an investment.

While I would love to see Mavericks selling in the $60,000.00 range...it's just not happening. I dont think you would ever make your investment back. The reason most of us build Mavericks is because we love the cars and they are different definately not for an investment.

The only Mustangs I've seen sell for $60,000 are Shelby's or Bosses ...

I would also say No! on the Maverick, as an investment. You could try with a Mustang & hope for the best....

    I've had a few
My dad's Comet sold for $17,500. He had a fraction of that in it. Just depends on how much you can make and are willing to do on your own.

I thought it was the Mach 5? yeah, I wouldnt go with a maverick if your expecting to get 60 grand. My rust free '76 2dr was only $200.

Mustang Fastbacks and convertibles are very hot right now...either should be a good investment if you can get a good one at a cheap price
