So I went to the junkyards in Phoenix today looking for a 5-lug 8 inch rear end to fit my 71 Grabber. Yeah, right. Most of the yards I visited had no Mavericks or Comets and the only one that did had already sold the rear end. One of the yards told me about a Granada that he thought would be a fit, however I wasn't sure the spring perches would line up and I couldn't remember anything from this forum about it. Dejected, I came back home and did a search on this forum for Granadas....and lo and behold I found several threads that talked about how the 8 inch Granada units had the same spring perch placement and the overall lengths were very close. So back I went, coudn't find any Granadas but found the Mercury equivalent...a Monarch. With an 8 inch unit behind a 302V8. I pulled it out and took some measurements. Perfect and for $90 complete drum to drum!! I love this forum! Now I just need to get some JCWhitney 4-leaf springs and get it all together. Of course, then I need to get some nice rims, tires...blah blah blah...$$$ Yikes!
    :bananaman

Did you check the Monarch for disc brakes and a floor console. Both items sell well if you can't use them on your project

Unfortunately, the disk brakes had already been taken, but I did notice a nice flour shifter sitting in the trunk. I wish I had known about that, even though I already have a B&M unit.
