Got home early enough Friday to get started on the rusty floor. Worked on it Friday evening and a good while Satuirday. Heres a few pics of the progress, I took some of the whole thing before I started but the camera batts decided to lose contact, so I lost them. These were made after I had already started on the repairs....

I'm doing it in sections, only replacing the worst rusted places, leaving as much sound original metal as possible. After I smooth all the welds, I'll probaby use body filler to smooth it all out before I coat it with rust encapsulater.....

Dont think I'd worry with body filler. Just put the rust stuff on it. JMO

Looking good.(y) When we did our floor in the Stallion, or any car for that matter, we use rust converter on the floor, prime the patches and apply seam sealer to all the edges on both sides of the patch. Then we undercoat the tar out of the patch under the car. Never had one rust back out again.

Cool! I looked long and hard at that car and almost thought about buying it from Clint instead of my '72. Glad to see it went to a good home. I need to fix the back drivers side of mine. Got about a 3 hole. Right now I just stuck a piece of wood under the carpet so my friends would quit complaining about the hole when they sit back there.

Thats sort of the way I planned to do mine. I figured the body filler would seal any small leaks or pinholes, might use fiberglass instead on the inside before the rust encapsulater. Definately going to undercoat the bottom when finished. I did a VW floorpan like that and it still looks good after 4 years. If I can get a few more good Saturdays in maybe I can get the floor finished, then on to the disc brake update! :yup:
