71Gold...Question for you on your cowl patch

    Frank,

    What gauge metal did you use for your cowl patch cover? 20, 18, 16? Did you just get a piece of CRS? I'm thinking seriously about doing the patch. I've got a bead roller, so I am thinking about cutting my patch panel, and then putting a step flange on the patch so that there is more to weld to. I know you didn't weld yours, but I'm gonna mig them if I do it. Not sure if I want to wait until the fall or not though.

    i had no way to treat the underside after it was welded so i glued it.:yup:

    Thank you sir! I figured that's what it was. But some folks use thinner stuff. Now, to eyeball it and see what it looks like.

    my cowl top was ...galvanized...so i didn't think the primer would do any good when the gal. underside would blistered from the heat. :huh:
