    When did they start to put catalytic converters on the Mavericks/Comets? I was thinking late 74' or early 75'?

    Unleaded fuel became the norm in 1973. All cars produced from then on had cats.

    '74 Comet GT
    ...1975 as far as I know.

    My '74 Comet GT never had a converter and always had the big gas tank spout.
