    To the bare minimum.
I want all the unneeded crap GONE.
I want plug wires and battery cables, heater hoses and thats it.
My car has A/C that is way past fixing so I want the underhood clean and sanitary, uncluttered and simple.

    Difficulty level?

I figured with the new intake, exhaust and carb I could nix the vacuum hose nightmare and without the A/C there goes all the extra hoses and wires. I want the bay to be all engine and no frilly girlyman BS.

Do you want a heater? if so, find a non AC car and get the controls and heater box out of it.

I just want it clean and uncluttered. In typical 70s fashion, there is a tangle of wires and vacuum hoses and crapola all over the engine.

    I've had a few
I hear ya... the engine compartmet of my '73 was a mess of unneeded crap that hadn't worked in years (including the engine) when I got it.

I ripped it all out with the old engine and just threw a simple little '71 200 in it for now so it will move under it's own power. I could simplify it even more then that... The car literally only needs two vaccum lines to function properly, power to the coil/ignition, wire to the starter, and you can put on a one wire alternator. Be prepared for your front end to raise up... mine raised several inches takingn all the old crap out. I'm sure the new engine is a little lighter also, though.

    Before .... after

See? Thats what I'm talking about. The first picture looked like a box of wires and the second one looks like a nice engine.
