ok so my car slid out in the rain and hit a curb and now i either have a bent rear or my back left brake is braking a bit. it spins, but not easily(on jack stands in neutral), this is the drive wheel(the one that spins when in a burnout). what could it be...brake? bent axle shaft? or bent rear completely...how can i check?

Jack it up and keep removing parts until it spin freely by hand. the last part you remove when it begins to spin is the problem ... :)

I think they are different lengths...

Do like Dan says...pull of the tire, brake components, etc. Work your way to the rear axle, and you will eventually find your problem.

If the axle is bent, use this opportunity to buy stronger axles and rebuild the rear:D

...if you are lucky...Hopefully you don't get into it far enough to find a bent axle...

It's really not that hard to bend an axle and I figure that will be your problem. They're not that hard to change out either.

It would be VERY difficult to bend the housing but not impossible. I think it would act differently if that were the case though. The most obvious thing if you bent the housing would be that your steering wheel would likely be off centered when driving. The rear end would be out of alignment and the steering would be off to compensate for it. I still figure it's your axle. :)

    I've had a few
I'd look at your shackles also. My '69.5 had bent shackles, which caused the inside of the tire on the drivers side to rub on the wheel well.

def not the shackles, b/c i took the tire off and couldn't turn the axle..., but it was manageable with the tire. the face of the axle is bent (not sure of the exact name...) but i dont think the shaft is bent...i'm going to replace the shaft and both drums in the rear
