Am planning to go to Salisaw Ok this evening, new track, garunteed purse. Hope the Fairmont will stop, shutdown is 400ft shorter than our track, just a change of pace for this old timer. Will let you know the end results.
400' shut down You *do* pack your own chute, rihgt! I'm headed to our local 1/8th mile track in Sealy, Texas in a few minutes. I 'think' I'm going to be driving a friends Fox Mustang (high 6's on dope). It should be fun. If I'm not driving his car, I'll take my Ford Thunderchicken or my old BMW 735i to see what the Yuppymobile will do The event is our monthly Car Club Bash (CCB). It's mainly a reason for us guys to sit around and bench race between bracket racing. I'll be satisfied just to get to the track and back without having to be towed! Good luck and I look forward to hearing about how you brought the tallest trophy home!
Salisaw Ok Well made the trip and won first round with a 514 light and 9.80 dial in(running 3tenths slower there in 90 degree weather) Had to get out of the gas at 1/8th to keep from breaking out at 1000ft. Second round lost to shi**y track. Spun for 100ft then hit the nasty dip that causes rear wheels to leave mother earth. So dark can't see a damn thing. Ran a 9.82 but was tenth off in 60ft and thusly had a 590 light. The 400ft less shutdown meant that as you crossed finish line at 105mph, with the help of God and good brakes applied hard, you would not hit the catch net at the end, barely. Loaded up and drove the 3hrs to the house arriving at 1.00am. Old Guy needs mucho sleep. Think that is first and last time at that facility. Needs lots of improvement for 10sec and under cars etc. Oh well. we went, we raced, had fun and left.
At least you're able to type about your escaping the undualtions and short shut down! I went to our Car Club Bash (street car bracket races) but wasn't asked to drive my buddy's Mustang , so......I ran my 1996 Thunderbird!! Remember, this is an 1/8th mile track so it's not like the car is gonna be hauling butt across the beams (71 mph was my best). Anywho, I did 2 time trials, dialed in a 10.2 and won the 1st round. I got a "bye" on the second run so was able to get a free test and tune of it. I ran a 10.15. Third round I dialed in a 10.1. Cut another good light and was on the brakes at the end. Fourth round I was able to push a guy through the lights (he broke-out by .017). I ran a 10.15 AGAIN. Fifth round (four cars left). Feeling like I have this thing dialed in, I put a 10.135 as my dial-in. I cut a .501 against the tracks "bracket master", had so much of a lead on him I let off and coasted through the lights. I've got a big grin on my face until I see that my win light didn't come on!!!! I pick up my yellow slip at the booth, drive back to the pits to see what had happened. As I'm driving back I just *had* to look at my e.t. It was 10.29. ???? Upon closer inspection of the *&(^% yellow slip, the tower had me dialed in at a 10.35 NOT a 10.135. ARGH!!! It is the driver's responsibility to look at the board to see that the tower has their dial-in correct. I've done it some many times with it being right, I guess I figuered they'd get it right again - WRONG! So, I broke out (10.29 on a 10.35 dial in). But...but..but...I had the 'Bracketmaster' beat!!!!! :wah: It was a good time, as usual though. Got to see a lot of my friends and met some new ones. Got home safe and sound and with no breakage. Oh well, we'll get 'em next time!
Racing Good job Rick, love to beat the so called masters of the track. Had the same thing happen to me on dial ins twice. Still forget to look at score board, got to many other things to concentrate on, switches, rpm's etc. Will try get some wins this week at our track, .501? I love it. I think I had one of those a long time ago, real long time ago.
