Ward Frahler, Vice Grip and I went to Somerset Saturday for the Somernites Cruise. We had a awesome time. There was 5 Mavericks and 1 Comet. There was another fellow there that tried to get his Comet to the show, but had mechanical problems(go figure! ) At last count I had heard somewhere around 700 cars at the show. Not bad considering the chance for bad weather and all the other car shows going on in the area. But we got to hang out with some really nice people. and they have some very nice cars. The highlight of my day(other than the ride down there with Ward and Vice Grip) was after the car show they all cruised the main strip and I rode with Tony Hahn and his very badass maverick(351w/4 speed toploader). We took pictures which I will post when Vice Grip gets them for me.
351w toploader car that John was lucky enough to reide in, owned by Tony Hahn, I hope that was how he spelled it.
This is Marks father in law Tim's car, sorry I forget his last name. His daughter Jacinda, Mark, Tim, and Terry(terry said he sent in his membership last week) are all members of the MCCI. Now we just have get Tony to join. Anyways Tims car is an all original car that he has modified but kept everything to be able to put it back stock if there was ever a call for it. He has a hard hitting 302 that sounds super.
I forgot to get a pic of the comet on the end, it is also Tims but his daughter Jacinda drives it. You would not believe how friendly everybody was there. The people that run the show are even super nice. I had a great time going up there with John and Vicki, then hanging around with the mav/comet gang, then going walking around looking at some of the other 700 cars in attendance. I was told that because of the weather that attendance was down by about 400 to 500 cars. It is a really good time. Also everyone of the 5 other cars but mine is really nice. I mean really nice. They are proud Mav/comet owners and it was really good to meet and hang out with them.
Tim Walden is his name. The folks down there are great! When we was driving through the town to get to the show, all the show workers that was directing traffic, kept stopping Ward and asking him "how did you get mixed up with those guys?" talking about the other maverick guys. It was truly a good time. We are planning a mini-meet next year in June at the Somernites Cruise. I encourage everyone who can attend to do so. Its a blast!
We're used to it..... ...,being forgotten that is! Eh, Tim? They never remember the Ford Comet Grabbers in particular!!
