Is there anything special I should know when swapping an I6 to a 302 in a 70model Mav?
Are front brake drums 5 bolt on an I6 Mav or 4?
I figured motor mounts, belly arm and tranny mount are different.
Are spings on the I6 Mav heavy duty enough to handle the 302?
    Thanks for the help,
    Rick:confused:

Well, the 70 I6 Maverick will have 4 lug drums. Some people use the 6 cylinder coils with the V8. It basically makes the front a little lower. :D You are correct about the belly bar, tranny crosmember, and motor mounts. I would also swap in your rear end from the V8 car because the 70 most likely has a 7.5 inch rear vs the 8 in the V8 car. There are lots of threads going on right now about V8 swaps and their requirements. Check them out, and ask any further questions you have. Hope this helps you a little.

can you use the 4 lug drums with the 302 or is it an easy swap to go to five lug?
    Thx Rick

get the disc brakes... an easy swap all you need is a set of spindles from another mav, granada,or monarch a big breakerbar with socket set, a picklefork and a big a$$ hammer! and remember to jump in here any time with all your questions.

Like Scott said, I would go with the discs as well. The V8 five lug drums will work also, just the discs are better in my opinion.

ok guys...thx for the help, sure saved me some time.
I have an aftermarket gauge package mounted below the dash..I would like to install a Tach where the idiot lights are now. Has anyone attempted this with any success?
Please excuse my ignorance...I am learning as I go..;) :D

P.S....am I posting these questions in the wrong forum?
