    Check out this pinion snout. Not that $225.00 is ridiculous, but the shipping calculator from CA to my house in SETX shows $74.27 for ground!

    That is likely a mistake. He probably copied an old eBay auction and put new info in there, forgetting to fix the shipping.

    If he shipped Flat Rate Priority Mail, it ought to only cost $9.80 anywhere in the US plus whatever handling charge he might have. Even if he shipped express, it shouldn't be more than $32.

    I would bring this to his attention and see if he adjusts it.

    I've got a Daytona support with a stock pinion flange. The only "rub" is that the pinion nut threads do not engage as far because (like you stated) the daytona pinion is longer. My machinist took a look and said "no problem", run it as-is. Not enough difference to (potentially) cause any damage.
