I have a '63 Custom Comet, with a 170 engine. I had it out on the road the other day, and felt comfortable going only about 55 mph. The speed limit on this road was 65, and cars were flying past me. Just out of curiosity, since this is a three speed (three on the tree), how fast will a car like this go? There is no tach, so I can't see if the car is red-lined or the engine is over speed. Any ideas?
A 170 will run out of power and stop building speed before it hits redline in third. Thats my guess from past experience from my teenage years.
