i never really knew there was ever such thing as a factory 7/8" front sway bar on a maverick untill today.... while ive been working with the front sheetmetal on my '72 i was taking a break and just glanced down and was looking at the paint marking on it. i looked twice at it and noticed it's unusually large size so i measured it with a wrench and sure enough, it's a big ole 7/8".

out of 32 mavericks, this is the first one ive ever seen and really wasnt convinced they existed on our cars untill now :yup:

Now check the rear leaf springs and see if it has a 4 leaf package. Out of the 49 I have had about 8 had the heavy front sway bar.

It's part of the "Heavy Duty Suspension" package, along with the 4 leaf rear springs (as yellow75 said), and heavy duty shock absorbers.
My first Maverick had one, it's still in the attic of my garage.

Of the cars that I have had with the heavy front sway bar not all had the 4 leaf package, probably just one of those whatever sway bar the assembler picked up got put on type of things.. With Ford you never know what to suspect.

As far as I can remember all the cars that I have had have been K.C. cars

All I know, is it lists it with the heavy duty suspension package, Maybe you could order it separately? But it's not listed by itself on the order sheets I have. Or it comes down to those guys at St.Thomas, they did have a bar set up on the line in those days :D

If they do, and you want to get rid of it, I'll take it when I come in Sept.
