Rear Main Seal

    My main seal is leaking and needs to be replaced. With that said how hard is this to do?

    A lot of work. Basically, you have to pull the transmission and drop the crank down.

    If it were me, I would pull the motor and rering and rebearing it while I was at it.

    I sure would look at that way of doing it. I have a very bad back and can pull and engine by myself in say 5 hours in a 70's car or truck. A young man could do it in 3 hours on these old cars. Pull the engine and check the bearings, seals and timing chain. Don't forget the core plugs or freeze plugs in the block and heads.
