Is your master cylinder full? Is there any fluid leaking out on the inside of any of the wheels? If the m/c is full, you likely have either a bad master cylinder or your brakes are severely out of adjustment. After pumping one time, does the pedal stay firm or does it slowly drop? If it slowly drops, replace the m/c. If it stays firm, adjust the brakes shoes.
had that problem even after I replace my M/C. waiting for pete to laugh at me for giving advice on this one lol.... but I'd bleed the brakes well first. If that doesn't work then start spending some dough on a M/C and lines.
Come now Phil...I didnt laugh at your measuring style...Besides,I was laughing with you. No problem with advice when you speak from experience .When your done Phill, you will be a pro with brake stuff. The leaky wheel cyl was kinda funny though.
lol. I almost rebuilt those wheel cylinder when I had to wait a day for the new ones to come in. I would have too if there wasn't this one big pit in it - I could've reused it once I was done sanding it, but new ones were so cheap.. After redoing the brakes today I kinda wanna go ask that mechanic if he'll give me a job. ya know, now that I can do something that is a difficulty 8 out of 10 . Ha! what a trip. I call that job a 1 out of ten. thanks for the help on all this brake stuff. The biggest headache was due to my measuring "mishap" lol. After driving to three different parts stores so many times and all of that research I'll never make that mistake again. I test drive tomorrow and if all is well they should be good for a while. Hopefully be on discs before the next time I have to change shoes
I kind of want to run new hard lines just so that I can say everything has been redone, but I think that's overkill. I'll find a way to get the rear bumper on first haha
Considering that grease monkey wanted to cut the axles off to do the rears Its a good chance you allready know more than he does.Im glad its all coming together for you though Phill. As for the hard lines...If they look good leave em alone. If any are questionable, those I would change out.Just dont do stainless unless you have a real good flareing tool (pnumatic or hydraulic one) You wont get far with the hand operated cheapies on stainless lines.More you do...more you learn...more you know. Oh by the way...your officially addicted to Mavs now.Enjoy!!! Pete
