Looks from the gallery that people attach their rear license plate to the rear piece under the bumper that covers the gas tank. I don't have that rear piece... I don't even have holes for my rear bumper, so none of that going on either. Any ideas for mounting my plate? (only need rear in NC) Here's a pic of the rear end.

Jeeze thats a good lookin car! You can allways use a few of the holes that the rear valence sheet metal screws go through for the interim.Once you have the rear valence the plate will attach to it. Looks like you dont even have holes for the bumper bracket botls?Thats odd unless its a 74 or newer or someone did some sheet metal repair/replacement back there.Does your vin start with a 1 or a 4?

Thanks. I painted it myself (looks pretty good in the dark lol). Have an issue with my my body turning out a different color than the rest of the car. my VIN is 1X91L227933. 71 non-grabber. Don't have any holes for bumper bracket bolts. the only holes I have near the center of the car are directly next to the bolt holes that my gas tank hangs from and they face downward, not out. there's one hole on each side in that very far out curved crevasse right below where the lower quarter panel extension goes. Then there is one hole on each side that faces outward level with the seam on the gas tank (if that makes sense), and they are near the outside of the car - too far down to be for the bumper. pretty sure that my bumper is from a 73 and that I need to change the brackets before mounting anyway. My license plate is in my rear window right now and duck tape won't hold it up lol. I have a stacked rolls of tape and shop towels squeezed in to hold it there. kind of ghetto.

You could allways drill 2 small holes about a 1/4 inch up from the bottom edge of that flat panel under the tail panel curve.Bolt your plate on and be done for now.The holes would be covered once you get a valence on there. Yeah 73 brackets push the bumper away from the body more than the 70 to 72s' do.

the valence meets up with the bumper right (it's a small bumper)? so yea, that would work and then it would cover. looking at these pics it doesn't look like there is any area exposed one the bumper and valence is on. good call.

I'm gonna start hitting junkyards soon to see what they have and collect the pieces I'm missing. If I remember right those bumper brackets and valences are kinda pricey for what they are.

i really need to learn how to weld better.. I might have to do the ad thing then. I need the valence for the front as well, so I might need to save up first and put those off til later. They don't serve a functional purpose besides looking good for all I know..
