I was looking through threads about swapping in Mustang tanks and read a post by Mavaholic where he had said about drilling the check valve so you don't need the carbon canister anymore or something. Is this true? I'd really like to toss that thing. For some reason I really hate it.

I pulled mine out, and all the hoses.

Then put a small one way fuel filter on the top of the tank to keep fuel from squirting out, but allowing air pressure to go in and out.

I should have just put "hey Scooper, can I yank out my carbon canister" up there as the title. You're as eager to rip things out of the car to make room as I am. :dancing:Good idea. So the filter would go on the vent hose on the tank? How long has yours been like this? Any issues? Is it easy to find a 1 way filter?

I ran my 74 for years without it, I just capped the line.

When I got mine, it was rusted closed at the outlet on top of the tank. I wanted to vent it, so I drilled out rust and cleaned out the tank and all accessories, coated it with an epoxy inside to prevent further rust, and then stuck a chunk of about 4" of fuel line to the top, finished with a small plastic fuel filter.

Did this all when I first got the car back 6 or so years ago.
