Has anyone had problems with aligning hoods and fenders? The hood is from anouther car and It seems to be about half inch off on the drivers side. If I keep the lines straight on the cowl then the drivers fender wont line up with the front 3 bolt holes. The car had no issues before with the old parts, they were just rusty so everything has been swapted with different fenders and hood. I checked all the clearances and they seem ok, Im wondering if maybe the hood sizes are a little different.

I've looked at many Mavericks, just to see how they fit, and they all fit differently.
The drivers fender on my green 73, is like it's twisted, and since it had never been off the car, until I removed it, I would say that's just the fit and finish of the 1970's, then comparing them to my brown 73, which it's fenders fit amazing (and it's all original paint, also)

It takes a bit of trial and error, leave the fenders loose and the hood loose and fudge around until you get the gaps right. The fenders can move in every direction quite a lot. I like to put paint stirring sticks in between the panels to set the gaps.

I am very picky about fit and finish. This is what I have learned over the years. These cars are not Mercedes-Benz. They will not pass the ball-bearing test. Sometimes you just have to get as close as you can and live with it.

That's a great idea. I'll have to remember to do that when mine is going back together.
