Soon after getting my 75 250 Comet which ran decent, with exception to the engine/drivetrain vibration, I replaced the gas cap. If I recall, the cap is an older style and locks. I'm not sure if it's a vented cap or not. Anyway, the car now dies upon acceleration. Sometimes it will stumble and die too. I was wondering if not having a vented gas cap could be my problem.

75 should have the closed vent system with the charcoal cannister. Make sure the vent line is open, even if the cannister is gone. Another thing to check would be the fuel filter to make sure it isn't collapsing.

    :hmmm:..

I put the old cap back on and it seems to be better .
I think I will check and change the filter since I don't know the history of it anyway.

Take the cap off, and drive the car around, then see what happens?
