waiting for parts... so what dont i need

    my 72 was a factory ac car but the last owner took off the pump and all so im just going to take the rest of the ac out what dont i need? like from under the dash? and where do the two heater hoses go they are unhooked but dont know where they go?? pics will help thanks

    well the correct way is to change the heater box to a none ac

    ok but is there a way to do this with out changing it to an non ac or just stick with the one i got? and you know where the heater hoses go?

    Hmmm... I have a non A/C parts car. What all do you have to do to switch boxes?

    i just installed all late model stuff under the hood and everything works like stock...:thumbs2:

    Just disconnect the refrigerant lines from the expansion valve, and that's it.
    If you get into it anymore, then your in for some work. A/C cars require vacuum for the heater controls to work properly.

    If you stand in front of the car, look to the left. There is a big black round spot @ the firewall, with a rectangle metal thingy there (that's the expansion valve) If you still have them, there should be 2 lines going from there to the compressor, and condenser. Those lines can be unscrewed from the valve.
    If you can take some pic's of your stuff, I can explain it better.
    Other than that, if you want defrost & heat in your car, you'll have to leave everything else alone. If you remove the vacuum canister from the engine compartment, you'll affect how the system operates. The mixing damper in controlled by vacuum (inside the heater box) as well as the damper in the dash (defrost).
    A/C cars are a lot more complicated than non-A/C cars, that's all done with cables.

    I will take some pics n get back to you (i feel bad, like I'm jacking this thread). still waiting on pics I emailed this morning to show up tho, so it might be a day. I have an A/C car but don't understand it, and my heat works but not right... kinda. it's wierd. thnx tho. Imma go look under the hood.

    no worries APPmaverick i want to know too. trying to see what i have still on the car and what is already on the car. i still would like to know where my heater hoses go i know they arent hooked up
