I'll snap some pic's and measure it up for you. dkstuck 2010-01-02, 08:31 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-1000lb-Ford-Engine-Cradle-Stand-V8-Small-Block_W0QQitemZ230418707598QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRace _Car_Parts?hash=item35a606748e I got this one off ebay years ago,,, works pretty good. 42 bucks free shipping, cheapest I found. I thought Harbor Freight sold them. couldn't find them listed there. Summit has them,, Sum-G1051 ,, Must've had a price increase, on search an Oct 09 catalog shows$64.95 when clicked on it shows 82.95. ford84stepside 2010-01-02, 08:38 Had one one time built from a grocery buggy. They cut the buggy off, left the bottom rack. Didn't have any way to fasten the motor to it, it just kinda sat on the bottom rack and balanced against what was left of the uprights. Worked decent. Don't know what ever happened to that thing..... Jamie Miles 2010-01-02, 08:43 I built one for a big a$$ helicopter engine one time. That one on ebay looks like a great deal. rthomas771 2010-01-02, 08:54 42 bucks free shipping, cheapest I found The cheap tool vendor at the drag racing and swap meet events sells them for $30. BTW...the BBC cradle can be made to fit a FE engine if you slot a few holes. mav1970 2010-01-02, 09:24 Does anyone have the plans and/or dimensions of an engine dolly/cradle that fits a SBF engine? Cheap at Harbor Freight - my Cleveland fit fine and is same as small block as far as mounting points go. Photos are in this thread: http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?t=61380&page=2 Craig Selvey 2010-01-02, 10:06 Yep....swap meet. Got mine there. greasemonkey 2010-01-02, 10:07 I use a tire. Hawkco 2010-01-02, 13:18 I've read on other forums, that those low priced ones from from e-Bay, Northern Tool, etc., made for the SBF, are really for SBC and they had to modifiy them to work with the SBF. They also complained of the flimsy build. What has been your experience? I've been on both Harbor Freight sites and do not see dollies/cradles with casters. Can you provide the link? I need three of this engine cradles. I have the materials to make 'em and that is why I asked if anyone had the dimensions or plans. dkstuck 2010-01-02, 13:33 Quality aint bad, rolls OK on garage floor, wouldn't want to roll over rough or big cracks. For the money. I think they are worth it. Mine bolted up with no mods or enlarging holes, been sometime ago. I think I had to bolt to engine then tighten all the cradle bolts. If you want to fab easiest way would be to have your engine in air, start from motor mounts and build from there. A guy I knew bought from Summit and built his,,, then returned it,,, just a thought. Mines buried and not sure how to measure what you want. if you wanna come up. I'll get it out!!! bring a snow shovel mav1970 2010-01-02, 13:38 I've read on other forums, that those low priced ones from from e-Bay, Northern Tool, etc., made for the SBF, are really for SBC and they had to modifiy them to work with the SBF. I thought that I got mine from Harbor Freight but it was actually Ebay. Built just for Ford. I haven't had any problems so far but I don't move it around much. It holds my Cleveland and the Windsor will weight less. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1000LBS-ENGINE-CRADLE-STAND-FOR-V-8-FORD-SMALL-BLOCK_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem53ded7f942QQitemZ 360220981570QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools rthomas771 2010-01-02, 15:27 I've read on other forums, that those low priced ones from from e-Bay, Northern Tool, etc., made for the SBF, are really for SBC and they had to modifiy them to work with the SBF. You gotta buy the blue one if you want it to fit a SBF. :Handshake Dave B 2010-01-02, 16:45 I thought that I got mine from Harbor Freight but it was actually Ebay. Built just for Ford. I'd measure mine, but it's been snowing all day.... Hawkco 2010-01-02, 20:21 I found one on e-Bay for $42 with free shipping. However, in my current circumstances, I have more time available than disposable cash. There is enough materials, including casters, at my dad's shop to build 4 or 5 of these things. I will get with someone that has a 302 or 351 out of the car and take measurements from there. Thanks for responses. don graham 2010-01-02, 20:36 Terry, this one on Eastwoods site looks like it would be easy to make and store when not in use. A couple of motor mounts and some tubing and casters. http://www.eastwood.com/underhood-engine/engine-dollies/ford-small-block-289-302-engine-stand-no-casters.html :) Earl Branham 2010-01-02, 21:12 Terry; I have a 302 on a stand, if that will help. Tell me what measurements you need, and I can mail them to you. Mavericknutt 2010-01-03, 01:37 the last one I made had a rectangular base, 4 casters, then had a set of tabs for mounting the arms to bolted to the bolt, the way I made it it would fit anything,... last I saw it it was still bolted to the scj block I sold to robert and on its way to misery :D sorry I dont have any actual dimensions those are called casters in Iowa??? strange here we call those garage door rollers?but I do still have it:thumbs2: JD71 2010-01-03, 15:28 that would be cool if someone could post the demintions and/or draw an post a blue print for everyone interested Hawkco 2010-01-05, 18:40 My dad reminded me that a 302 is sitting outside his shop. This is going to be my weekend inside project. After I make a couple for the SBF, I think I'll get a little goofy and make an adjustable one to accommodate 302, 390, 460, and make one for 250. JD71 2010-01-05, 18:46 sounds cool! i belive this is simple enough that we may only need demetions to be able to make one.imo 71nogo 2010-06-21, 12:43 has anyone done this yet? |
