I got an '87 roller motor. I have pressure washed the heads. (hot water and soap at work) not much can go wrong with a little water on them. Now I need to clean the block. Oil pan and bottom end and cam are going to stay in place. can I pressure wash them with no harm being done? How about with out the pan on? will that hurt bearings, lifters cam etc?

I would not get water in the motor unless it was all completely dismanteled so you
could blow all the water out and then wipe down with some oil

Since You have it down that far why not take it all down and get new bearings ect.?Blast(wash) the empty block, then use an air gun,to dry,and clean out all oil passages, ect.,Then oil it down and bag it til reassembly. You dont want water in the lifters, and any moisture left inside the block,on the cam, crank ect.

Mean green from autozone and a couple wire brushes work good.Just make sure after washing get every bit of water/moisture out/off the engine, and oil it down.A block/cylinder walls will start to flash-rust in a matter of minutes,if left untreated.

I sprayed Greased Lighting from a garden sprayer and a old paint brush to scrub the oil/grime. A thumb on the end of the garden hose did the rest.
