wow. so been MIA for a few day... I'll respond to my other posts soon. Came across these rims but 17" seems giant for our cars. Am I crazy hoping that this size will fit a stock 71 mav? 17" 205/40/17 (I very well might be) God I wanna get this rim n tire thing done already lol.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Ive seen 275`s on 17. Its not the rim size to worry about, its the backspacing/offset.

i have 245-45-17 tires on mine, with 17x9 rims, and everything works with the help of some spacers

yea, that's the problem with craigslist. still waiting to hear back about backspacing/offset and width...

(don't know how to quote more than one person...)

Thanks for the calculator link. I found that on another thread while searching but can't figure out how it applies to our cars.... first time buying rims, first time buying tires that are different than the ones already on the car. I hate this. Don't wanna have to roll the fenders either (just want it to work)

mean_maverick: yea, you were who I was hoping would chime in. I remembered you ran 17's. That's what made me think it was even a possibility. The more I research this the less I know haha.

I'll keep searching forum for more info - stinks there's no golden rule for this. I wanna be able to drive my car as much as I want :(
They have these wheels at summit which I'm tempted just bite the bullet and get, but then it's like $400 more bucks to tires on them.

craigslist is so much cheaper but so much more annoying. idk how you guys do it.

thnx for the help - who knows, this dude might not even get back to me about them.
