Generally speaking...Carbs are all the same, in as much as they all meter fuel/air into an engine. There are different designes...EG: Holley carbs/Edelbrock carbs etc...Carburetors are application specific as far as OEM is concerned.Performance carbs like Holley are tailorable to specific apps from a general base design. As far as ford I6 and V8 apps are concerned...Yes they are very different in design/application and appearance but...They all use the same basic principal of air flow/velocity to put fuel into an engine.Hope this helps you some.

that helps alot for my understanding of carbs! I'm reading til my eyes turn red, smoking a cig and then going back at it trying to learn all I can. The origonal reason for my post was because someone said they had a 2bbl carb for a V8 I could get off them, but they didn't they work on I6's. I didn't know either. wasn't even sure if there was a difference. k, I need nicotine. I'll be back in a sec to reread what I just wrote and hopefully have some more to add. Thanks again - I like to think I'm moving in the right direction with all this lol.

yup. read that a few times and all 13 pages of posts lol. Also read the first 7 pages of results when searching "carb" in the search. I think I'm either over analyzing this or I'm just making this harder on myself than need be. Does it look like that to you? I want to do it right.

Researching a direction to go in or a problem that needs to be solved is the best route IMHO.Just give yourself room and time to digest it all so you can make a desicion. An informed desicion is allways better than a guess.Good luck!!!

PS: Remember, the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.

Thanks for the input. Been struggling a bit the last couple of weeks. I just know I'll beat myself up about it for as long as I use the setup if I don't make the best overall decision. Was doing well with this maverick stuff until the wheel and carb issues. Thanks again for the encouragement and info.
