I have never done this before so forgive this if it sounds dumb.

I have the rear out of the car and have taken the springs apart so they can go off to the sand blaster. I was able to drive all the bushings out today. I am still going to need to order everything.

My question is about the front spring bushing. It came out ok. But inside the spring hole there appears to be a round sleeve. Does that stay there? Or does the new bushing come wrapped in the sleeve? Also, how have you guys been pressing your bushings in and out? I don't want to destroy the new bushings.

I looked at the Springs N Things web site. I am planning on ordering from them. I see they list urethane bushings for the "fixed" end as well as the "frame" end. What exactly does that mean?

    Thanks,
    Glenn

If I remember...when I bought my new bushings they had the sleeve on them. I just took it all to the spring shop...

To the extent you are redoing this car...I would highly recommend getting new springs. Original springs are probably worn out.

I wud get new springs. I personally don't believe in rebuilt\re-arched springs. Springs are like anything else on a car, in due time and use they have a service life - when the steel loose the ability to flex --REPLACE.
I agree w/ Craig. Check out www.generalspring.com. I also saw another vendor mentioned on this forum; can't recall who it was.
I replaced my springs from General a few months ago, they only offered the 4 leaf hd units. They are a little stiff for me but they are better than what I took off -- worn out units w/ shackles. For the drag racers and younger guys they may ride OK. If I had to do it again I wud search a little more and try and find some new 3 leaf units. I cud have got some from Eaton but more than my budget. :thumbs2:

The front bushing is wrapped in steel. I took the springs to a spring shop and they took a BFH and beat the old one out and the new one in. Didn't charge me either. They say they can get/ make new springs for our cars and will ship them. I don't know pricing.
