I just made a deal on a running 77 model 250 but it's going in a 70 model Maverick. I want to clean it up a little and take the smog stuff off. Is the carb on a 77 usable in this case or should I start hunting a pre-emissions carb?

    You can use the carb.

Thanks...I didn't see what the carb looked like when I went to check the engine out. I got to thinking it might have a bunch of extra smog stuff on it and I might need to look into finding an older one. The engine I bought seems to run great but the carb acts like it is trying to load up on a cold start. Guess I need to go ahead and get a kit for it.

That sounds right. Go ahead and rebuilt the carb.
