Is one of the Mustang replacement horns, e.g. from NPD, a close match for a '72 Maverick horn? I did a search but didn't find anything. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

The stock Maverick single is a LO tone horn. The difference is the mounting bracket shape, but you should be able to make it fit without an issue.

    Thanks!

In the search I found a lot of Mav horns don't work any more os I'd like to try a new replacement.

OK, LO is the right tone. If the mount is different, and there's room, maybe I'll mount it on the front side of the core support.

    Thanks.

I think Mav horns sound very anemic. i am thinking maybe a Cadallac horn or a an LTD or something like that would be appropriate

I want to install one of those horns that sound like a freight train...

I was thinking Explorer. But, I think I'd have to install a relay if I went to dual horns and I really don't want the extra wires. I'll put that on my "Phase 2" list.

I have a set of horns from a later model f150, go to the junkyard and get a set, also get the wire that goes to the horns as they are usually unique to those horns. Mine are LOUD and sound great!! No relay, either.

Good to hear they work well without a relay. Think the modern vehicles normally use horn relays but maybe they use lighter wires?? I'll look for some.

Got mine from Carquest. Lo and Hi note extra loud freeway horns. Small black plastic and really loud with the 2 of them. I found the single lo just not loud enough for my liking. About 20 bucks each. Fit perfect between my overflow and washer bottle.

    Did you use a relay?
