I got back from the races at barona without a problem. Was driving home from work late last night and after I got off the freeway I parked by a grocery store. As soon as I came to a stop the car stalled. I tried starting it and only way was to hold the gas to the floor and idle at around 2500K and the AF gauge was reading 10 and it was running rough. I just left it there, got some groceries and walked home.
The only other think I can think of is that in 4th gear I was going up a hill at 3K and floored it and the rpms went down a little from 3500 back to 3000 and then picked up and went to 4K. The T5 shouldn't be the culprit. We think it might be the power valve on the carb.

I'll try putting the edelbrock back on and then maybe see if the powervalve works. I bought a 650 double pumper off craigslist that the slacker seller is finally shipping out today. It was modified for blowthrough so it might need some work to work on this engine. I would love to get a new 650 dp hp but I don't have $500 right now to spend.

Sounds like it was flooding over..... There is probably a piece of trash in the needle/seat assy holding it open.....

I was going to say needle and seat too, but frank beat me to it.

I had the secondary needle and seat go bad about 5 miles from home one day ... that was a fun ride home (not!). Had to keep it at about 3K at each stoplight while in neutral to keep it running. Think I used a 1/8th tank of gas, too.... 2 or 3 mpg ....

I wasn't going to tow it if it was still running ... short on cash and knew how to fix it, just had to get it home.

If that is the problem, you probably had fuel sloshing out of the vent tube closest to the problem seat.

oh that little guy! that actually might be the problem because I was recently messing around with that. I'll check it out.

the edelbrock is back on and up to about 3K it drives great but really not much power after 3500 and also I'm idling at 10:1 A/F and flooring it up to 3K gets me around 13:1 and then after that I'm in the 14-15 range.

Seriously, holley's will do that from time to time ya just need to peck on the bowl with a screwdriver handle to correct it. They just stick or get a small piece of trash in it. No biggie. Just another joy of old car things lol.
