Anyone ever use a new Rally 1 Barrel carb?

I bought my reman carb off of ebay...got it cheap and it ran great. This weekend it sprang a bad fuel leak from the bottom of the carb. My dad has a friend who is a Carter guru...he came over and looked at it and was like wtf? He said there all sorts of things on the carb he's never seen before..so I told him that it was Ca emissions. He said trash it...it has alot of extra valves and what not and would be more prone to leaks and driveability problems. He told me to find a good core carb and he would rebuild it for me, but as I was looking on ebay...I saw these brand new Carter knock off carbs made by Rally. They are $159....I wonder if they are worth looking into....the seller has good feedback.

same thing autozone/o Reilly carries. i have a rant on this forum somewhere about them.

had a few of them. the floats weren't set right for the engine and the jets are larger then the stock carter. didnt match up to the carter used on a 75' & 77' 250 straight six .

idk what engine you have but they feed too much fuel to a straight six. i got 9mpg (tuned the best i could) compared to the 19mpg with a stock carter yf.

ask around on the forum if anyone has an original carter yf they'd sell you unless you can find an original on ebay.

---over at the fordsix forum you might find some other carb suggestions

the rally's also missing a vent shaft (allows gas to enter bowl at high rate) on the side of the bowl so under WOT or heavy accelerating the engine bogs down due to lack of fuel.

Mine is a 77 model 250 straight 6. Good idea though...I may post an add here in the wanted section. I still have the original carb but it had loosened up where the base attaches and stripped the threads out.

yea i would just stay away from the rally. it works, just not good.

-you could always re-thread your carbs base and rebuild it.
