I am putting the exhaust manifold on my engine. is there an order in which I need to turn the bolts? The engine is a 250 and it is a '73 Maverick. Thanks

This is what autozone says, I'm sure the info would be in your haynes manual or chiltons manual as well.

    13-18 Foot pounds (Final torque)

Note:to torque bolts & nuts, start in center using crisscross pattern working outward

It works best if you torque them from the center out in steps.
First time 5 ft lbs, second time 10 ft lbs, then final torque at 15 ft lbs.
The way I torque is to go 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4, at the beginning torque (5 ft lbs) and keep re-doing the bolts done before as I work outwards until all are torqued to 5 ft lbs. Then do it all over again at 10 ft lbs and then at 15 foot ft lbs. That way it is torqued evenly - no warpage - no leaks.
